what format do pictures have to be to add them

i have found out how to upload picture icon what format do they have to be i uploaded one tried to replace it and all i get is some colour image. so it never worked so can it be any format

It has to be in the same format as the one you're replacing.

Although, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Picture icon", to be honest.

sorry do you know the gold squares for posting so when you do more posts you get more squares. i want to replace the squares with my own icon

Gold squares? No, I don't, I'm afraid.

But, if you right-click on the image and select "Copy image address" (Or whatever your browser calls it), you can then paste the path of the image into notepad. That'll tell you which one to replace.

If that doesn't work, try emptying your browser's cache.

Maybe, even the forum cache.

You can define which filetype the membergroup stars use when setting the filename in Admin > Membergroups.

If you're going to use say "admin" then you'd have to put in "admin.gif" if the file were a gif image, "admin.png" for a png and so on.

what about jpeg i put jpeg at the end but still the same

There is a difference between .jpeg and .jpg the latter of which is more likely.

And do make sure they're uploaded to Themes/[THEME]/images

The images are coming in 404.

The current URL being called is: http://drwho-fansite.site90.com/Forum/Themes/default/images/smalltardis22.gif

So in this case, you need to upload a file called smalltardis22.gif into the images directory of your default theme.
