Is there a simple way to add a couple of buttons to the menu?

I would like to have a button going to my website, and one going to my Coppermine Gallery.

I have done this on my Coppermine page, and it is working well.

I would also like to rename the "Home" button as I want one of the buttons to point to my website to be "Home".

Any help or relevant suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One last item: I am still using 1.*  If/When I upgrade to 2.*, will my new buttons go with me? Or will I have to do this again?

the menu system is different between 1.1.1* and 2.0 so the changes you make in 1.1.1* will not apply in 2.0.

How do you add custom tabs to the Core default) theme menu?

How do I add buttons to SMF 2.0

So, it would probably be better to wait until I upgrade sometime in the future.

Thanks for the information.

I am still working on how to upgrade my site. I got a three month plan with GoDaddy just to mess around a bit, and I couldn't get the upgrade to work there. I didn't want to screw up my board, so I tried it on the my site at GoDaddy. Probably not a good idea. That place is a disaster.

Actually, you can do it by hand in SMF 1.1.x.  Interested in reading a tutorial?

But it would be easier to wait until upgrade, and use a mod for that.

I will wait. There's not a lot of use in having to do it two times.

Do you know if there is going to be any way to upgrade from 1.x to 2.0 without having to load 2.0 on the website myself? I tried that with my GoDaddy test site and couldn't get it done. That's not saying much though considering that it is GoDaddy.

What is the best way to upgrade, when the time comes?

to use the large upgrade package and then run upgrade.php script, there is no other way to do it.
