Hi, my site was hacked last week and until I can deal with the issues, I took the site offline.  I'm wondering if there is a way to extract all my members email addresses from the files on the server or the database so that I can contact them and let them know the site will be back online in the future...hopefully the near future.

Thanks for the help.

Use the Newsletter feature. That should do what you need.

That might be tough as I've taken the entire site down as the hacker had replaced my site's pages with some malicious content.....i still have access to the files on the server and wonder if i can extract the emails addresses from there?

If not, do you have any other options?

Do you have access to the database via cPanel/phpMyAdmin? Not entirely sure of the query to get the emails out of it, but they will be in the smf_members table in the emailAddress column.

I would be inclined to think that you could load a fresh/clean copy of the smf software on your server and run the upgrade script and be back online quicker than you could be by the time it would take you to extract the email addys and email them.

This query should give you all the usernames and their emails in the SMF database.
SELECT memberName,emailAddress FROM <prefix>_members;

So I backed up all my files after the hack was done.....Would you believe that if I installed the upgraded version of SMF that this would take  care of all the issues?  The hacker replaced my entire site with a very nasty, racially charged page of his choosing.

depends on if the issue was a server side attack or something from a php app running on the server [smf or otherwise]
