Forum Displays well in FF and Chrome, but IE is wrong

Hi,
I am new here and to SMF.  I have experience with Joomla and extensive experience with Wordpress.  I have searched here and on the net in general, but have not found a solution to my problem.

My website, bestipadgame dot net looks great and as I planned in Firefox and Chrome.  When viewed in Internet Explorer 8 and 9 there are a couple of problems.

The semi transparent background (dont know the terminology) that wraps around the main part of the forum in FF and Chrome, is either missing or a block of colour in IE.

The menus at the top of the forum are vertical in IE, instead of horizontal as they are in FF and Chrome.

In FF and Chrome the jquery Slider has a smooth transition.  In IE it is blocky.

In all browsers the Facebook badge towards the top is not displaying properly (though this was fine yesterday).

I am not familiar with SMF, and someone else built the site, so I am hesitant to make changes without support, and anyway, have found nothing that has seemed remotely helpful thus far.

I have tested on Mac, On Windows 7 and On home PC and behind a network, the result is always the same.

I am not sure what other info I can provide you to make this easier, so please, if you need more info just ask.

Thanks in advance

Ricky.

Is it default curve theme or you are using some other theme.. I don't think it can be curve, its a nice theme made to be compatible with all browser, it looks good even on IE6 !

PS: Welcome to world of SMF

Yeah, I think Curve is nice in pretty much all the browsers. Which IE version are you using? IE 6 and below are notoriously naughty.

Ricky.

IE9 is good and supports CSS3 properly, you mentioned that someone else built site for you, is it someone else made theme for you, then ask him to make theme so that is compatible with all browser or atleast should work properly with all.

Akyhne

No browser supports .css3 properly and if the author didn't use proper css3 styling, IE9 won't know.

Arnum

Thanks for all of the feedback.  Now it seems that it is ok for some of you in IE?  I am having issues with screen capture, and will endeavor to add pictures tomorrow.

Is there anyone that would be willing to check my site out in IE and in FF, and see if there is a difference for them?

Akyhne

We wouldn't know how it looks as your forum is closed for guest access.
