Restricting permissions for new members

What i want to do is prevent new members from using my buy and sell section... I want them to have a certain post count before they can see or use the buy and sell section..

Currently all my members are in :
Regular Members
They are also spread accros various post based groups.

All new members also show up there. Years ago we added post based groups that simply give the user status. Like most board. Post more and you get more stars and a cool name under your avatar..

How do I make sure that new sign ups get the restrictions i think i have applied to my lowest post based group?  I created what i though would work but when i use my test account i full access to the areas im trying to keep newbies out of.

Any ideas?

Set board permissions for post count based group, e.g. for newbies and go to any newbie profile  Show Permissions and you see denied boards,child boards etc

Thanks.. Somehow all new registers come up at "Regular Members" I checked a newbies permissions and they show Regular Members permissions. Even for the buy and sell area.

all members not in any other primary group will always be in the regular members group plus a post count based group.
