Can I remove the default theme?

I'm creating a board for which I want a very specific kind of look. For this purpose, I wish to remove the default theme (after installing other themes, of course), or if that is not possible, to make the default theme unavailable for selection for regular members. How do I do this?

if you use 2.0 you can make it so that users can not select any other theme, but it is highly recommended to NOT delete the default theme as many function rely on it being in place even if you dont actually use it.

No, you can't remove default theme, as Illori said, SMF will cease to function . Though you can make user to not to change theme, Just got to :
Admin --> Configuration --> Themes and Layout --> Manage and Install
There "uncheck" to disable \\ : Allow members to select their own themes : \\

Further more , reset everyone to your preferred theme and also make your preferred theme as overall default theme for your forum.

I don't want to force members to not be able to change themes. I want them to be able to select their own themes, and I've set up my boards this way. However, I want them to only be able to select the themes I've installed. The point is to give members of my boards choice, but those choices are still consistent with the general feel I want for the boards. This means that while the default theme has to be left intact, I'd like to remove it from the theme choices my members have. How do I do this?

which version of smf are you running? if 2.0 you can select which themes your uses can select, if 1.1.1* you can not.

Then you will see these 2 options ......


Allow members to select their own themes. ( Check )
Themes that the user is able to select:  ( Uncheck the themes you dont want your members to see )

I was just going by that he has been posting questions about 2.0 in the past few months. ( on a Aug 17th 2011 post he said that he had 2.0 version )
