Does anyone have a utility to convert Xoops' NewBB forums to SMF? Would be very much appreciated.

Do you want to stop using XOOPS completey and only SMF? or do you want a SMF module for XOOPS and convert your NewBB to SMF module?

I'd prefer to lose Xoops.  I'm just not sure that an import would work on permissions, individual boards etc.

You might be able to use the phpBB2 - SMF converter. It should require minimal modification to the SQL if any. Keep in mind that all module data cannot be transported over -- except for NewBB of course..

Depending on the SMF license I might be able to produce a SMF module for XOOPS. This, however, will not be anytime soon if ever considering that SMF is still beta software. Once the module is created it will allow you to control forum access just like you would with stand-alone SMF -- this would be done via Rank not Group.  For more consideration check out the work I did with YaBB SE on XOOPS --> http://madug.com/modules/yabb

You did a good job on yabb!  ;) I can't wait for a XOOPS module to be out of the "SMFforge" ... and this is why:

We - me and my young brother do have a hxxp:allcrews.mielus.ro/forum/ [nonactive] attached to our hxxp:allcrews.mielus.ro/ [nonactive]. Themes are almost perfect one with the other ... if a XOOPS module would get out soon it would make our site (since the users have to make another account for the forum at this time) ............................. GREAT ... just GREAT! ...

I can make some small coding/cracking myself but I can't do the big stuff, the mysql stuff ... unfortunatelly I didn't work on that ever  :(

Uffffff ... just living with the hope that someone good at it goes 4 it and does it.

Cheers.
