What is the best Portal of SMF?

simplePortal & ezPortal are good maybe one of this two portal.

Either of those two are good but its really down to your own preference and what your looking for in a portal. There should be comparisons if you do a quick google.

I prefer not to use portal and most of the time , you can achieve basic requirements by extending smf easily.. but I prefer SimplePortal ..

If you likes confusion and know where to start. Support there I cannot comment on however I have nothing to add regarding the support for the mod here.

I will note... The rest of that list is all portal mods... I.e. they require SMF to be installed....but ocportal is a standalone software and is not developed as part of the forum...

I did not use portal for my forum but after a quick view and see some site install chat, I choose this:

That's right, integration works seamless for both branches 1.1.x and 2.0.x

Best way.  install Xampp (or similar)  and build some test sites locally on your PC.  You can then have a separate install of SMF 2.0.1 for each portal you test, and try them out without fear of messing things up on your server. 

Once you get the hang of it, you can have a fresh version of SMF, and a portal mod running in about ten minutes.
