Mod Install not working
« on: October 15, 2011, 04:18:28 PM »
Hi,
I had an SMF 1.10 Board on a server.
Now I downloaded the whole board + database, uploaded it on a new space. Upgraded the board to 2.01.
Everything seems to work.
But i can't install mods... every mod install says a error in a xml-file.
If i try to install it "Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/var/www/vhosts/bla.de/subdomains/dod/httpdocs/Board/Packages/temp/./arcadeinstall/Database.php' (include_path='.:') in /var/www/vhosts/bla.de/subdomains/dod/httpdocs/Board/Sources/Packages.php on line 938"

Searched and searched... tried temp/tmp directory and repair_settings.php
Still the problem... maybe some can help? :)

A specific mod? Or any mod?

Which xml file is it failing on?

First off, can you check a couple of things, with your new host?

Is "Mod security" tuned on and do you have full ownership (CHOWN) of the files on your site?

I suspect it's one of those last two that's causing you problems.

I tried SMF Arcade and Todays Birthday.
Arcade: Error on language/english/english.xml
Birthday: install-2.xml

Mod Security isn't installed i think. Don't really know about CHOWN, but i think yes. I log into the main ftp account to use this subdomain. And the Main FTP = owner of server. SoI think full ownership. And 777 chmod everywhere...

There's a huge difference between CHMOD and CHOWN.

You can't set that, yourself.

Your host will have to do it.

One thing puzzles me...

Failed opening required '/var/www/vhosts/bla.de/subdomains/dod/httpdocs/Board/Packages/temp/./arcadeinstall

I wonder where the "/./" is coming from.

That looks exceedingly weird, to me.

Any ideas?

The arcade's a weird mod, though.

What are the errors like, for other mods?

SMF Gallery:

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/var/www/vhosts/psd-dreams.de/subdomains/dod/httpdocs/Board/Packages/temp/./galleryinstall2.php' (include_path='.:') in /var/www/vhosts/psd-dreams.de/subdomains/dod/httpdocs/Board/Sources/Packages.php on line 938

Yes, the "/./" seems to be a problem... but how can i fix this ...

try to extract the package into a folder in the packages folder and see if you can install it that way.

(include_path='.:')

That's kinda weird, too.

try removing the temp directory and let the server create a new one when you try to do the mod install.

Removed the temp and tmp directories:

"You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!"

no idea on that other then maybe your server cant read xml files or something. you could try searching the forum and see what you can find about that first error.

Just thinking out-loud, here...

The mods you're installing....

They ARE compatible with SMF v2.0.1, aren't they?

even if they are not compatible with 2.0.1 the error message would be different from what is being shown, and with version emulation it is possible to install mods that are not updated.
