Install problems with 2.0.1 patch

I've been trying to update my forum software from 2.0 to 2.0.1 but the Admin>Package Manger>Browse Packages>2.0.1> Install yields this error message:

You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

The problem is, all the folders and sub directories and files have their permissions correctly set.  The 2.0.1 patch has been downloaded,  I confirm an FTP connection ...I just can't install it. 

Can anyone direct me how to install this patch?

You can do manual installation , however before that in package manager, under file permission, try to make all files writable and then try .

also verify that you have a temp folder in your packages folder

Ooo kay...I did not have a temp folder in the Packages folder so I created on.     smf_patch_2.0.1.tar.gz file was downloaded into the Packages folder.    All my file are writable...so writable my IT husband is fretting with how vulnerable we are.     Tried to install again...had a failure with the same previous message that the files are not writable.   So I dragged the smf-patch file into the temp file.  Tried again.    This time the Browse Packages says: This package is already installed, and no upgrade was found!   

Cool... I hit the "INSTALL NOW" button.   The next screen says, The package was installed successfully. You should now be able to use whatever functionality it adds or changes; or not be able to use functionality it removes.

Problem is, on my admin dashboard, it still shows the version as 2.0 and tells me I need to upgrade.    I'm upgraded but not upgraded.  Clear caches and restart computer.  Still says the same thing. 

Soooo, what do I do now?

Can a mod bump this thread into the "Bugs" folder since it appears there is a bug in the 2.0.1 patch or 2.0 itself?  It's installed, says it's installed, File Permissions are all writable, yet the version still says 2.0.

Looked in the forum error log.   The file public_html/smf/Sources/Subs-Package.php was not writable.   We decided to change the permissions for ALL the smf files and directories in one fell swoop.  This worked.

Now, can someone tell me how to whittle down the number of 2.0.1 patch mods in Browse Packages> Modification Packages?  I have five copies in there and it won't let me delete them.

it does not really matter how many copies you have, and if you cant delete them from the main packages page then you can always delete them from ftp.

and if you read what i said above i said all your files need to writable, i did not say just the files/folders in the packages folder.

I'm having a similar problem. I created a backup when installing.

The upgrade worked fine until I cleared all my cache, cookies and reloaded.

My forum looks like the attached below.

You first follow this link and make your forum working again, ie. to default theme and then check your theme, if its in proper shape or not, after that install a 2.0.1 theme..

What is repair_settings.php?

Followed every instruction at least 3 times. Still looks like this.

Even installed your latest 2.0.1 pink theme. No change.

clear your browsers cache, and make sure the theme folders are readable to the server. i can see part of the default theme here.
