Why even the latest version has classic looking icons ?

Like -

It is true that we can customize them, but any particular reason for using these ? Even 3 rd party themes follow these icons. I did check many theme to find good alternatives to these buttons, but almost all of them are the same. It will be nice if we can give an alternate set as customization pack as many won't know where to find these icons even if they know how to replace them.

Yes, they are part of default theme however, theme author are free to modify theme but most decides not to do it, however,  most probably with next major release of SMF, you will see all new sets of icon.

Thanks. Any scope for a customization set for icons ? We have many smiley sets, but something like this will be good too.


PS : When is the next major release ? Hope it is not anytime soon.

Well, you can have custom icons only with a theme package, if you need them then you can ask designers to make them for you. However, separate package is not possible as of now. Simplest way is that you create  yours and overwrite them in your theme.

When I need Icon, I create them as per need of theme / site.
