I saw a similar topic, but the theme may not have been the same, so I created this topic. I honestly couldn't figure out how to get the theme to say, "Welcome Guest" instead of...well, you get the point. :P

I have uploaded my theme, in case it's something to do with that. How do I change this, exactly?

Sorry about the two posts. I had issues with the forum loading, and such.

kat

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, Aumo.

If you want to change the text for "welcome guest, please register", you want this line, in index.english.php:

$txt['welcome_guest'] = 'Welcome, <strong>%1$s</strong>. Please <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=login">login</a> or <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=register">register</a>.';

The file's in the default themes "languages" directory.

AumoeLooure

Thank you for the reply! I actually tried putting it into Settings.English.Php, since that's all I saw with no luck. Same thing....

Illori

are you using the default english for your default language? sounds like you have some outdated language files that should be updated.

I'm not really certain. How can I check? Apologies, I am new to this.

Illori

admin -> languages will tell you what your default language is

on the main admin page click more details on the right side, then click on language files and make sure all files not related to mods show as 2.0 if they do not show as 2.0 then they need to be upgraded.

I just checked. All show as 2.0. So that's probably not the problem, I guess....odd.

Illori

can you attach your index.english.php file to your next post?

...I'm not sure what you mean.

Illori

we need to view the file so we can tell if there are issues with it. so attach that file to your next post.

That I understood. I'm just not sure how to attach the file to it...

Illori

you need to download the file from your server and attach it to your next post.

you would need to use ftp

How do I use FTP? / What is FTP?

I looked at the page, but I didn't upload the files. It came with the godaddy account...

Illori

and your godaddy account should have a file manager or ftp access so you can download the file.

Right, but I couldn't find index.english.php.

Illori

I'm not entirely sure where to look. I looked in language, and it's not there. What I gave you was what I saw.

Illori

well if you cant find the file there is nothing we can do to help you.

Ah, is this it? :)

Joker™

Just looked at the theme you have attached in the first post of this topic.

For sure that theme is compatible to SMF 1.x but not to SMF 2.x.

Please try to install only those theme which are compatible with the version of SMF you are using. For SMF 2.x you can find more themes over here.

AumoeLooure, Illori was just trying to point out the copyright thing to you nothing personal ;).

Aside that, is your issue resolved or do your require further assistance with this?
