You know? Slammeddime made a mod for SMF/Wordpress. User registered on SMF, can comment on Wordpress articles.   (I think) I used it once long ago and it worked great.

He did, but 1) I don't know how well maintained it is, and 2) adding in WordPress is a MASSIVE performance sink (out of the box, I can handle 20-25 times the requests in SMF than I can in WP), not to mention 3) two things to keep updated and patched.

I've ended up installing SMFBlog and now I'm just modding the hell out of it - looks like it will do nicely.
