Really a nice work
But I think there is something wrong with the configuration.
Look at the top of the page and see what it says.

Ya I was going to say that. I get the same top screen message in both firefox and IE.

This is going to be a wicked integration btw. Thanks so much for doing it. Gallery 2 is a fantastic gallery software.

I know all about that text. One of the files got uploaded in ASCII mode when I upgraded to Gallery 2.0.2 a few days ago. I'll fix that in a few minutes.

Also, a quick update:

The 1.0.5 version of the integration is ready for beta testing. If you would like to beta test, please register at http://smf.oldiesmann.us/galleryproject and post in the "Testing Requests" topic indicating so. Please remember that this is a beta version so I am unable to provide much support for it at the moment.

I am working on a version for 1.1RC2 as well and will try to get that out as soon after RC2 is released as I can...

Translation? ;D

Thanks for reminding me :)

If anyone is interested in helping to translate this, let me know what language you wish to translate it to and I'll give you the language stuff for translation.

Just a quick query on how he beta testing is going - looking good?

I have had Gallery2 embeded into SMF for about a year now, and I have just switched away from that setup to a Joomla + SMF + Gallery2 setup so that I can keep my SMF and Gallery2 installs pretty much stock. This should make for easier upgrades down the road.

You can even setup Joomla just to load SMF as a default frontpage and not use any of its other features to get the same functionality as a Gallery2 Embedded in SMF.

Just a thought....

jadz - Yes, that's always a possibility, but G2 is not actually embedded in SMF if you do that, and you still have to click links in the admin center to manually update membership in G2. My integration will put G2 directly in the middle of SMF (if you so choose) and handles membership better - members are not added to the gallery until they access it, and group membership is checked everytime a user accesses something in G2 (if needed).

I plan to start working on the RC2 integration soon. I've been extremely busy lately, but it's the beginning of a new term at school for me, so I won't have quite as much work for a few weeks.

is there an update for integration...i am currently using coppermine, but the integration of that was less than acceptable and still not working quite ri9ght.  I stumbled across this thread (quite literally) and after looking at G2 and the sites that have it, i am thouroughly impressed and would like to switch to this as soon as possible as my coppermine gallery has very few images in it (apparently due to the crappy iintegration of coppermine)
Don't tell me to get into shape...I have a shape...It is round!

There is currently no update for the integration. If you are running 1.0.5 or 1.0.6, I will gladly add you to the beta team so you can have the current integration. I am still trying to find time to work on the 1.1RC2 integration. School has been really busy for me lately and I just haven't had time to work on it.

Oldiesmann, this is a great idea and I'd love to have it for 1.1 RC2.

The problem with coppermine is that it is outside the forum and experience has sh own me that ppl are reluctant using anything which is not in the forum itself. Another problem I have not been able to solve with coppermine (a problem coppermine gave me no feedback on) is that users always have to log out of my forum and then log in to the gallery before being able to use it.

I would like to beta this for 1.1RC2 also. Great work on this!

I'd really like this for 1.1rc2 myself. I've seen several galleries being made for SMF but I think gallery suits my needs best.

Hmmm .... Gallery2 Integration was the Reason why i want to switch to SMF. Is the Integration for 1.1 coming or not ?

BTW - why are you working on a Integration for a old Version and not for the Upcoming Final Release ??  ???

Oldiesmann

I started with 1.0.5 because 1.1 was still in beta when I started that, and then I decided to make it for 1.1RC2 due to a certain integration option that isn't available in 1.1RC1. I will also be updating the integration for Gallery 2.1RC1 soon. Check out the project board for more details.

With either the beta bridge that's been developed or the upcoming one, will there be the functionality to have system users comment on images in gallery2 and have the comments published as threads in SMF?

Oldiesmann

Never thought of that, and while it would be nice, I don't even know if it's possible to do that without modifying that module in G2.
