No new personal messages

Hi,
I recently migrated from phpbb to smf 2.0 and everything seems fine except for personal messages. I have all my old phpbb private messages however new personal messages are not being recieved. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I get an email from SMF stating I have a new personal message. If I click on the link in the email I can quote the personal message however the personal message does not appear in the personal message index. I had a look at repair_settings.php but this doesn't assist.

Performed maintenance (admin/maintenance) and voila, the pm index is back
