???

no, sorry, the title does not say it all.

how does the current PM system confuse people? It's as straight forward as email. I have a board with 33,000 users and none of them have ever complained about being confused with the PM system.

but, if you want a change -- be specific -- What parts of gmail's system do you think would be needed?
(personally, I despise gmail and google's setup for messaging)
Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

alright, i'll explain myself... im sorry too...

@Joker - yes it involves conversation styling.

im suggesting to add another settings for the Display Personal Messaging settings.

a settings that shall only displays email style messaging. like this layout below:

read/unread/replied icon | Sender's Name | Subject

and please see attached image. it contains screen shots of the conversation style.

what im suggesting is to display or a layout style like email.

thank you for the response.

Sorry to say but I'm unable to understand what you are trying to express from "Display Personal Messaging - My suggestion.jpg" image.

read/unread/replied icon | Sender's Name | Subject
By that do you mean options to sort the list of message like we get in gmail etc?

i mean, my suggestion is,

the layout and assortment of the messages in the inbox shall look like the image in "Display Personal Messaging - My suggestion.jpg"

message icon |senders's name |Subject - Message 1
message icon |senders's name |Subject - Message 2
message icon |senders's name |Subject - Message 3
message icon |senders's name |Subject - Message 4

Subject  - Message 1,  is a hyperlink for opening the link and open the whole content of the message, just like when you're opening an email message.

Under the Messaging Settings "Display personal messages: All at once", the top block of table of the inbox page is showing:

message icon | Date | Subject | Sender's User Name

and then below it, it shows all, the full contents of all of the messages in the inbox.

what im suggesting is, a settings that dispplay only the the top block table, the table that displays:

message icon | Date | Subject | Sender's User Name

Umm, sorry to say but can't understand what you are trying to say exactly.

Posts and personal messages are 2 different things.

@fullmoonya

you are wanting to say that, showing your own post via Profile>Summary>Show Own Post

will display similar to facebook's messages inbox layout?

because the "Show Own Post" menu of SMF shows your post in this format

but you wanted it to display it in this manner

displaying only the title of the post

Make sure you also have it set to store all of your messages in the outbox as well. By default, that option is not enabled. Conversation mode doesn't work too well without that option (which is why you're prompted to enable it when enabling conversation mode). Note though that it will only apply to messages sent after that option is enabled.

Hi,

Is there any option to set "View As Conversation" as default view for all users?

There are no options to changes any users preferences for PM's like that. If you wanted to do that, you'd probably just be better off running a SQL query to update everyone's preference to do that.

Wouldn't that annoy members if they use PM's often and are used to the old format? It would do for me.

It certainly would. Which is why there is no option to do that IMO.
