I am considering this program to integrate a forum into a website I have designed. The client also wants the ability for registrants (of a certain category) to log in to view "member only" pages on the site. Can this registration/log in feature work for both purposes: a) the forum b) member only access?

Thank you.

Sure it can.

If the extra content is board-based, you can set the permissions per board easily enough in the board's configuration.

In the case of external pages that use SMF's authentication, there's a facility called SSI.php which you include into the custom page. Exactly what code comes next relates to exactly what level of authentication/checking you want to do, because you can have it put as 'members only' or 'specific groups only'.
