Building a new mod

I was searching and didn't come up with any thing so O wanted to ask. How do I make a mod for SMF. 2.0.2. What do i need other the PHP skills. I never done any thing like this before. and so I need to be pointed in the right direction.

Can any one give me a helping hand.

1) How do I start.
2) what will I need.
3) where can I get the info I need to get started on some thing simple to some thing advanced.

Any help would be great.

Thanks. I was looking for a mod sample. Some thing that I can start with. To give me an idea on what to do. That forum just looks like it's for support.

What I was looking for is a mod sample. Some thing to get me started. Some thing that has all the fixing. From the php code to the installer. package info and so on.

And if I need help. How much help is any one going to give.

Start with any mod on the mod sight that takes your fancy and try adding something to it or change it to do what you would like. The board pointed to can answer all questions relating to writing mods ect thats why its there.

If you want to create your own modification, I suggest to look at other user's mods, usually, mods created by team members are good examples to follow.


And as to how much help can anyone offer or how much help can you receive, it really depends on people's free time since everyone here are volunteers.

Well can you give me a name of a mod that would be a good example to look at a read threw. Some thing that covers all most every thing. That is small and easy for me to read.

There is no mod that covers everything and there is no easy solution, you will have to study different mods and different ways of doing things.
