Hi,

I have a very annoying problem in my forum. I am using SMF 2.0.2 on a quite big forum and I was using Google Search as a box at the template. Our search results is filled with medicin ads so we switched back to the standard SMF search. But now SMF keeps logging users off if someone tries to make a search. As a visitor if you try to make a search it tells you that you forgot to enter text. If I want to change search settings in admin interface I'll be kicked out as well.

The problem can be seen as visitor as well:

forum web address is
http://turkmac.com/forum

or

http://turkmac.com/forum/index.php?action=search

Please help. I put the google search box again but it has those stupid spam ads..

Thanks

kat

Does "Aramak için bir şey yazmayı mı unuttunuz?" translate to "you forgot to enter text", then?

That's what I got, when I tried.

Well, it certainly looks like your forum has become infested with a lot of spammers. Perhaps you should concentrate on anti-spam measures to keep them from signing up, and getting rid of them (banning) should they get in, responding to member reports of spam, and going through and cleaning up the mess (ban any member who has posted spam, and delete all their posts).

Once your site is cleaned up and relatively spam-free, if either search method is still giving problems, it could be further discussed. Perhaps search could be modified to exclude results that include certain words (the male enhancement products you speak of). For example, for the Google search, hard code in -cialis -viagra -male etc., and most of the spam ads should disappear.

Yes, that's correct. It means "you forgot to enter text". Always the same error.

Thank you for your answer as well. I've had this problem and removed those users. I hope I get rid of them but the forum is quite large and I think it might be still some.

The problem is I can not source the infected database. It is not at the PHP files at the server nor the SQL database. I've read some solutions by googlling it, but it seems I must backup everything and start from stratch.

But hard coding -viagra etc. is a good idea. Thanks for that.
