I have enabled recent post option for my SMF 2.0.2 which show 8 recent post at my forum index page.

I want to show the same on topic page as well, but could not find any mod for this. I've seen several forum where recent post are displayed at topic page as well.

I'm new to PHP, so help is requested.

You might want to check out Simple Portal. It has just that and a few other handy things.

http://www.simpleportal.net/

Scroll down on the home page, and you'll see the 'Recent topics' block. That can be added to take the place of the 'Recent posts' block (which you can see on the left of the page) and that block is visible everywhere.

Yes I've seen this in Simple Portal, but at this moment I dont to install the portal for sake of recent post only. There must be some other way like changing any source file

Sorry about that. Forgot to take a look a look at this for you. This might be best done by a customizer though.

customizer means mod? I didn't find any mod except portal... and I dont want to install portal...  :(

Arantor

A Customizer is a member of the SMF team who specialises in coding and mods.

bestfriendavinash

ok... waiting for a customizer to response..  :)

Arantor

Well, what I can tell you is that it would actually make your forum quite a bit slower to put that on every page since it's not possible to cleanly or easily cache it... still interested?

Sorry could not contact them yet due to office work load..

Bump Again  :D

OK, I don't think I made myself clear.

Turning off the list of recent posts like that is already suggested for performance - and it's only on the board index. Turning it on for all the other places is a MAJOR PERFORMANCE PROBLEM. It will REALLY slow your forum down.

I understand... but I really wish to give it a try... I've seen atleast 12 SMF based forum with recent post on topic pages as well... and atleast  4 of them are on shared hosting...
