I have a weird problem the last couple of days. When I (or any of the members) want to post, or scroll on a page, it freezes, even when the page is fully loaded. I haven't installed any mods lately and I haven't made any manual modifications either. Any idea what the problem could be?

Hello,
I have successfully visited your forum and tried to replicate the symptoms. I was unable. I was able to fluidly scroll through several of the web pages.

Yes it seems to be better now, I might have found the problem. Thanks for checking anyway!

Colin

Sure, topic marked as solved. Have a fantastic day.

Why don't you share the solution with the rest of us?

If I would have to take a educated guess, I have ran into sites with this problem, my guess would be a bad flash advertisement. I have had a few that crashed the flash plugin in the past, usually this doesn't affect most browsers but seems to only affect most webkit browsers.

~Souza~

I don't have flash ads or anything like that, and the freezing is back. I would appreciate it if someone could take a look. Even YouTube videos that are embedded in posts are freezing.

It seems like there's just to many things to load on the home page. Then on the Community page you got that facebook plugin with all the photo's showing lots of boards. Lot's of stress on the site going on.

Yes, but that has always been the case, I don't know why this should cause trouble all of a sudden.

Did you run a Traceroute Command to make sure your hosting aint timing out some.

What sort of hosting are you on ? Maybe it's getting overloaded at peak times ?

Colin

It looks like he is using: http://www.servint.net/ , but I have no idea of what type of hosting he is on.

To me it doesn't look to be the server, it actually looks to be some script installed on the site causing the problem. I didn't investigate too far though but a little bit of errors.

One thing I notice as soon as you hover over the wibiya bar the warnings just counting up, I don't think that is it though, maybe. It has to be external, allot of times when you rely on external resources and the server hosting the service has problems you feel it on your side too.

~Souza~

Yeah but what? I checked everything on my end, but I didn't find anything that could cause this. Maybe it IS the Wibya toolbar that causes problems, maybe they are having problems on their end. I'll disable the toolbar and see if it works.

~Souza~

Disabled Wibya. Seems like that was the problem. Could anyon of you see if the speed improved for you as well?

Edit: nevermind, still awefully slow.

Those "Recent Posts" are big queries that eat a lot, and heaps of boards don't help.

I'm not saying that's the issue but they add to the burden.

Out of interest have you tried optimising your database ?

Also, I'd still be interested in your general CPU loading (if only to discount it).
