Issue: Find and repair any errors

I have an issue with my forum "Find and repair any errors". Anytime, I attempt to use it, it shows lots of errors fouling up my forum. I did fix them but to my surprise, nothing happened. Because if run "Find and repair any errors", the same sets of errors show up.

I have searched the forum for similar issue if exist but could not find any. Please help! Thankss.

I tried the zillions of links that you have under your avatar and in your sig, to see if I could figure-out which version of SMF you're using, so that I could move this to the relevant support board.

I gave up after the first two thousand, or so.

I use SMF 2.0.2 (http://www.theinfostrides.com/index.php?action=credits).

Also the type of the errors you are getting could help.

1. When I go to Forum Maintenance ---> Find and Repair any errors ---> Run task now.

2. Several lines of errors shown up such as mission subject, topic non-existence etc...

3. I fixed the errors

4. To my surprise, similar set of errors re-occur. At times, they won't show but at times they show.

That's the worst type of bugs: the random ones.

The errors resurfaced again. about 720 lines of them. Please see the first 20 below:

The repair was done successfully but after a while when the process is run, the same errors shown.

I seriously doubt this, I have to confess. But, can you try emptying your forum's cache and try killing those errors, again?

I'm wondering if your forum's pulling that crap from the cache, somehow.

Although, I could be talking total bollox.

I did clear the cache and confirmed from the folder. The errors still surfaced.

The topics do not exist. I deleted most of them from the database through PHPMyAdmin. Could that be responsible for the issue?

Ohh, you have most likely found the issue.

If you have deleted only the topics (and the messages) you have missed several other places where topics informations are kept and that most likely foul the maintenance task.

IT may or maynot help, but is the query I added to "Populate" (the script I use to generate posts in test forums) to fix the errors I encountered that were not fixed by the SMF maintenance task:

UPDATE {db_prefix}messages as mes, {db_prefix}topics as top
SET mes.id_board = top.id_board
WHERE mes.id_topic = top.id_topic
Of course replace {db_prefix} with the prefix you used for your SMF installation.
To run it you have to go to phpmyadmin.

That was more a sort of "deduction". If I try http://www.theinfostrides.com/index.php?topic=4.0 I get "This topic doesn't exist on this board.". Though according to the results of the queries I posted it *exists* and it is in that board:

PrettyURLs was already disabled. I uninstalled it and ran maintenance task again but NO LUCK yet.
