Hi, if you want to convert from SMF to another forum software, you need to ask in the support forums for that forum software. They surely know how to convert any forum software to theirs.

I think you just install the db tables in the db you want and run repair_settings.php. I would think it would basically be this http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/How_do_I_move_my_SMF_board_to_a_different_host

All you need to do is installing SMF with a different table prefix. smf_ is the default prefix but you can change that during installation.

tnx. but would anything i do in the test forum affect the main forum. i want it to be totally independent of the main forum. tnx

If you just use another database you can leave the table names alone.
As far as the db's are concerned I would think only your data base connect info would change if you did this. The file paths would change but the repair_settings.php would help work out some of the issues.
