Attachments not showing

Nothing, its really strange. SMF cannot see the files that I uploaded in the attachments folder. I thought it might be permissions at first but I have Chmod it to 777 to be on the safe side but in the database all that is showing is the 30 files and thats via MySQL and in the Admin section of SMF but on the server viaFTP there are 29000 images ?

I thought that you indicated earlier that you could see the older files in the database?

No, not in the database - just on the server via FTP. I can see them in the attachments folder but they do not appear in the MySQL database ? The plot thickens now as when I am in Admin I see 30 images in "Attachments" but nearly 2000 pages in "Avatars" ? Is SMF reading these as Avatars ? Phew, I am getting more confused !!
