Upgrade from 1.1.14 to 1.1.16?

Upgrading SMF

I would also suggest looking at moving towards 2.0.2 and not 1.1.16

I'd suggest that you don't.

Use this:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/downloads/smf_patch_1.1.15.tar.gz

To get you to 1.1.15. Install it via Package Manager.

Then, this:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/downloads/smf_patch_1.0.22_1.1.16.tar.gz

Again, install it via Package Manager, to get you to v1.1.16.

Don't forget my sig, before you do that, though. (Just in case).

I have the 1.1.15 in my package manager.  However, when I try to upgrade I get an error message which advises me not to go further.  Will ftp work?

What's the exact error that you're getting?

With these updates, you have to kinda treat them like installing mods. Anything that fails has to be done, manually. (It's usually fairly simple. So simple, in fact, that even I can do it!)

Are they in a .zip file?

As you can see, they're tar/gz.

You can always dearchive them and rearchive them as zips, if you want.

I know some tar/gz files croak, coz they do on my forum, too.

Most archivers will do it.

WinZip/WinRar and all that weirdness.

Dearchive all the files, highlight them and zip 'em up!

You don't even need to get a program, to do that, coz Windows can do that, now.
