Hello foks,
I want to know why there is .0 in topic url. Lets take on url of topic (/forum/index.php/topic,1893.0.html)
now here topic id is 1893 right? But why is .0 in url? How it comes? can we assign more subtopic to by placing .1, .2, etc ?
thanks in advance

Pagination? what is that ? why we use it?

MrPhil

It gives the starting post (reply number), with 0 being the original starter post. If you have 20 posts per page, the second page would be .20, the third page would be .40, etc. It gives the starting reply number to extract and format.

Why paginate? Do you really want to scroll through a 1000 post topic to get to the bottom, or would you rather jump by page number? If you like scrolling, you can set SMF to show 100 or 500 or whatever posts per page. I don't know if there is a practical upper limit.
