Extract thread/post data into a text file

Hey all,

I've been using SMF in one way or another for about 10 years now, I think I'm going to retire for a little bit anyway, however I have about 6 years of posts on a board that I'm currently thinking of closing and some I really really enjoy.

I would love that I could find a way to save these threads and posts in a text file without copying or pasting, without having to do much to the database, any suggestions?


Could a feature or mod do this?

Someone with just a bit of coding skills, could easy make a script that exports topics to .txt format.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm not sure it's something we can meaningfully support as a core feature, though, to have bulk export options like this - everyone's going to want slightly different things from it and we can't really support all of those in the core. A dedicated mod for it, though, would be a better alternative.

For now, though, I'm just going to move this to the declined suggestions board.
