Hi - searched but didn't find anything.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Could someone please tell me or point me in the right direction.

Is there a setting which determines the order posts are displayed by default?
ie; Oldest first as opposed to newest first.

Many thanks

Arantor

I have asked the moderators to put this in the proper board for you.

In the meantime, do you want to change it for just yourself or for everyone? (I'd be willing to bet you've just changed it for yourself, not for everyone, but we'll check that in a minute)

I want the default setting for every one to be oldest first.
This is particularly important as some of the sticky and locked posts in each board need to be in a specific order.
Generally they are created in the order they should be viewed.

Or is there a way as administrator I can 'move ' posts such that they no longer adhere to 'date order' filtering ?

Isn't this do-able by default in the Themes menu.

Theme Settings > Member Options > "Show most recent posts at the top."

and just change that so it shows the 'oldest' posts at the top?

You'd have to chage this for 2 member options for it to be default for everyone.

Configure guest and new user options for this theme
Change current options for all members using this theme

Also, there is a MOD that allows you to determine the topic sort method per bopard ( in its modify board options)

Stickies always show at the top, its why theyre called "stickies".  Though, there is a MOD to sort sticky topics as well

Many thanks for your responses.

i had 3 topics I wanted sticky in a certain order
make one sticky
it goes to the top
then turn it non-sticky
etc
etc
for each of three
order might get screwed up
just keep going until correct
then make all 3 sticky again

Arantor

Sticky topics will be reordered based on last post made unless you use a mod (like the one suggested) to force an order.

was thinking that his sticky would be closed  / yes = if they still get replies - will reorder as you say

Arantor

Sticky just means at the top of the list. If you don't want more replies, lock them too.
