as Mambo/Joomla diverge over time which will the bridge follow?

Will the current bridge be developed for both CMS's?  Realistically, I see hanging on to Mambo for a while.  As the code of the two change over time who is to say that down the road I may/may not have a need for Joomla's functionality?  Either way, I will always need SMF incorporated.
