Lack of picture on the home page

Guys I've created a small picture of a taxi which replaces the smf logo on the home page. I replaced the smf logo.png for a picture of the taxi.
The taxi logo comes up ok for admin, but regular members they just see the smf logo. Can I amend this so that the members see the taxi logo too

YogiBear

You don't say how you replaced the logo. My point being there is an easy method by hosting the pic on your server or on Casimages, Imageshack, etc., then pasting the html code into Admin > Current Theme > replace logo.
SMF v2.1.3  Mods : Snow & Garland v1.4,  PHP  v.7.4.33

Even weirder if I go into current theme and put some text in to replace the smf logo, the text I insert shows up for both admin and members.
If I leave this section blank then I run into the problem again ie picture that replaces the smf logo only shows to admin, everyone else only sees the standard smf logo.

Yes I've got an URL address going to cooltext.com which shows my forum name glasgowtaxiforum.org  in fancy text.
At the side of that I want everyone to see a small picture of a taxi instead of the standard smf logo.

Shambles

Cooltext images are only kept for an hour... you need to download it and rehost elsewhere, as stated above :)

The cooltext image has been up and running fine for 4 months. It's not that image I'm talking about. I'm talking about the smf logo on the top right hand side of the home page. I've created a new image of a taxi using a replacement png file. It's all working ok but only for admin.

Empty-out browser's cache and/or forum cache. Admin>Forum Maintenance.

Gave it a try k@ but no joy.
Have a look at the log in page http://www.glasgowtaxiforum.org

You can see the forums logo glasgowtaxidrivers.org and then the smf logo.
When a member logs in everything is the same on the home page.
When I or another admin log in, that smf logo is replaced by a small picture of a taxi. This is how I want it be for everyone.

Johnboy1974

K@, can you point me in the right direction to empty out the browsers cache.

kat

Just to check... You replaced this image?

http://glasgowtaxiforum.org/Themes/Time%20For%20A%20Laugh/images/smflogo.png

Coz I'm getting the SMF logo, too.

Emptying the browser's cache depends on the browser. ;)

Yes that's the one I replaced. Here's a picture of the home screen when I log in or any admin log in.

kat

Well, now. My browser didn't pull it from my cache, coz I've never been to your site.

Sooooo... You emptied the forum cache, yes?

Hang on... You DID replace that image in the default theme, too, didn't you?

mashby

Can you attach the index.template.php file for that theme (looks like the default one). I see an image of a car in your screen shot.

Yes I did emty the forum cache, I'm pretty sure I put that image on the forum default theme but cannott check just now as I'm on an ipad and cannott open my hosts file manager folders on an ipad.
Btw every member is on the curve theme and its the default theme. They can't change it.

Have a look at it now- http://www.glasgowtaxiforum.org

Nice. Looks like your found the slogan area for that theme's setting...

Yes mashby if I go to admin/configuration/current theme and type "an independent discussion forum for Glasgow taxi drivers" in the section that says site slogan, then it removes the smf logo and replaces it with that text.
What we are seeing now is what admin and members will see when they log into the forum.
If I remove the text then the default smflogo.png should appear here. This has been replaced by the taxi image, but the taxi image is only appearing to admin for some reason.

The logo you added was here:

http://glasgowtaxiforum.org/Themes/Time%20For%20A%20Laugh/images/smflogo.png

It needs to be here, I believe:

Ok will have a look at this tonight when I get home and check it on my laptop. Incidentally when a member of admin logs into the forum are they taken to a different home page than a regular member.

kat

Or the other way around, depending on what your FORUM default theme is.

K@ you've pointed me in the right direction with this post. The default theme was the curve, but it was set as another theme as you have shown above. Once I set the theme back to the curve default theme everything is ok again. Thing is I don't know how it changed. There's been a few wierd things happened since I put in a thank you button. Btw that's working ok as well.
