and install it as you would install a mod.

and do the same.

also verify that you have a backup folder in the packages folder and the server can write to that as well.

This is all I could find in package mgr:  "A security vulnerability and few bugs in SMF 2.0.2 have been fixed. You can install this patch (click here to install) to fix your forum."

I'll restart from scratch here and say there is nothing in my forum to upgrade, neither 2.0.3, or 2.0.4.  My question is, how do I get them there.  It shows what needs to be done, but the upgrades aren't there.  Sorry to be such a pain.

Nothing there!  Will these upgrades hurt the portal?

You don't say which portal you're using. But, I have Simple Portal and, for what it's worth, neither update affected mine.

Have you ever installed a mod? (I assumed you had, as you have the portal)

You install them in exactly the same way as you would a mod, as I said.

Yes I installed the mod.  There are 2 - 2.0.3 upgrades in packages, one is 2.0.3 tar gz.  However, the package mgr doesn't show a way to use them.  Strange!

PS:  They show on the server, but not in the forum package mgr.

That will, certainly, kill the portal. No question of that.
