Mark,
I don't think that you are actually reading what we are writing.

YES... if you ue the large upgrade, it will remove all mods and you will have to reapply them.
If you do that, you should go straight to 2.0.4.

However, no one in thi thread has said to use the large upgrade.
We have continually pointed you toward the PATCH files... which - since it's not showing at the top of your package manager, you will have to download form the link that I gave you and then upload and apply like any other mod.

Those patches ONLY work from 2.0.2 -> 2.0.3 and then then net one from 2.0.3 -> 2.0.4.
If you have removed your version number...
or you have edited the version number...
you will have to revert it to the correct version.
If you are not actually running 2.0.2...   it you are running 2.0.1, then you will have to apply the 2.0.2 patch FIRST.

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

No and I tried to download 2.0.4.upgrade.zip into my forum and I get, "an error has occured."  If I uninstall the portal and then do a full overwrite with a brand new 2.0.4, will I lose the posts?
Thanks,
Mark

Upgrade?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

UPDATE/PATCH!

This thing I keep pointing you to!

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/downloads/smf_patch_2.0.3.tar.gz

Then, this to get you to 2.0.4.

This happened with 2.0.3 patch:  "Package upload failed due to the following error:
"Although the package was downloaded to the server it appears to be empty. Please check the Packages directory, and the "temp" sub-directory are both writable. If you continue to experience this problem you should try extracting the package on your PC and uploading the extracted files into a subdirectory in your Packages directory and try again. For example, if the package was called shout.tar.gz you should:
1) Download the package to your local PC and extract it into files.
2) Using an FTP client create a new directory in your "Packages" folder, in this example you may call it "shout".
3) Upload all the files from the extracted package to this directory.
4) Go back to the package manager browse page and the package will be automatically found by SMF."

OK... Upload the file, still archived, to your "Packages" directory, using FTP (Overwrite the one that's there). Then, go to Packages, again, to actually install it.

also verify that you have a backup folder in the packages folder and the server can write to that as well.

Mark_Breznay

I'll do that.  However, when I download the patches from SMF, they are empty.  When I ftp them into Packages, it shows 0, as in nothing inside.

If you don't get the attached, properly, you have problems.

Mark_Breznay

When I dl it from SMF it shows 3kb.  When I try to load it into my forum, it says it's empty and won't let me proceed.  Do you have these patches in .zip files?

What about the files I just attached?

If those don't work, can you not dearchive them and rearchive them as zips, yourself?

If not, I'll do it, tomorrow, coz I'm just about to hit the ol' sack.

Mark_Breznay

Yep, those files.  I''ve no idea how to zip them.  I can wait, as the forum is functioning.
Thanks,
Mark

Zips attached.

No offence intended, here. Please take what I say in the right spirit, would you?

I don't, usually, like to kinda spoon-feed people, with this kinda stuff, coz people NEED to learn how to do this kinda stuff. This is pretty basic stuff, after all, this.

Mark_Breznay

The same thing happens, Empty.  I'm tearing my hair out.
