Members only chat room?

Hello, I'm not sure if I've posted in the correct place as the descriptions were confusing as to what I'm looking for.

Anyways, basically I'm looking for a way to implement a live chat room (not shoutbox) onto my forums that is only accesible by members. I've searched and found the IRC chat but it's open to anyone unless I'm doing something wrong. The chat room I need must only be for members only of the forums and needs to have a "who's online" list. Is this something that can be done or has been done already that I can add to the forum?

There are a number of flash chats that do integrate with SMF, supporting permissions, etc. But most of them are paid.
