IPB 1.3 to SMF 2.0

I don't understand how this whole thing works.

I am assuming the IPB 1.3 version has to be accessible through the same server that my SMF forum is on. All I have though is the SQL database because the forum is hosted some where else.

The questions I have are:
How do I convert to SMF with just the SQL database?
Will the skin also be converted into an SMF skin or is it all about the member groups, topics, posts, categories etc and not the CSS or HTML?

Both databases (and both forums files, of course) should be on the same server. If both SMF AND IPB are not installed in the same DB, SMF's database user has to have permission to access IPB's database.

To convert just with the database is possible, but requires some tweaks to the converter. No attachments or avatars can be moved, of course...
And no, your IPB theme will not be converted.
