I'm using a dual processor with 64bit Linux(centos 4.1) and so I cannot use eaccelerator - it seg faults on dual 64bit  due to a known bug with the current release.

I was wondering if anyone new of a decent accelerator that works with php5 on a 64bit linux box with dual processor? preferably free ;D

the eaccelerator team are rewriting it from the ground up(due to licensing issues) - but I think it will be months before a stable release comes out and I am a little worried that they wont be able to fix the seg fault issue straight away. mainly because they do not know whats causing it at the moment.

Any thoughts appreciated :)

I'm fairly dubious of the eAccelerator rewrite, I don't think the team will be able to come up with anything as good as mmcache / eAccelerator as it is now :( but time will tell.

Have you tried APC, not sure if 64bit is supported but theres mention of it in the changelog. APC is supported by SMF's caching features according to the smf changelog.
