Is it possible to add some warning system on the forum to be able to punish a member if he doesn't follow the rules of the site?

TheListener

There is already such a warning system in use on the forums.

Arantor

There is, however 1) it actually needs to be turned on, 2) it's not actually very good.

bharat_forum

Can you please tell me where is it?

TheListener

admin > configuration > core features.

This switches the feature on.

bharat_forum

Sorry but I didn't find this: This switches the feature on.

Arantor

Yes, it switches it on, and then you can click on the 'Warning System' text to configure it. It is very limited.

bharat_forum

It was already on, where can I see the warning?

Arantor

You can see the configuration area by clicking on the *title* "Warning System"... when it's on, the title is a LINK.

For issuing warnings to users you'll see it in their profile.

bharat_forum

Is it possible to add it in the profile, I mean without opening it, just on the main page?

Arantor

Well, there's a link on each post, the little orange ! icon which means 'issue a warning to this poster', but there's not really a good way to do what you're asking otherwise.

bharat_forum

But I don't see any orange icon, where is it? can you please tell me?

Arantor

Next to the 'report to moderator' link, assuming your theme hasn't removed it or anything. Of course you can't issue yourself a warning...

bharat_forum

I can see this orange icon now but it is visible next to each member even if he doesn't have any warning.

Arantor

No, that's for issuing a warning.

What *exactly* do you actually want? You are being a bit vague.

bharat_forum

You can see green line under each profile and also procents, depends on the warning level

I would like to add something like this

Illori

closest would be http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=507536.msg3575179#msg3575179 but it depends on the status you set in the admin panel for who can view warnings.

Arantor

Oh, *that*. There's an option in the Warning System area to show that to no-one, moderators, moderators and warned users, and everyone - but it doesn't list percentages as far as I remember, it only lists the current state of each user as being nothing (no warning, nothing shown), watched (typically 20% warning), moderated (typically 35% warning), muted (typically 60% warning)

bharat_forum

I put that everyone can see it but I don't think there is any difference.

nope it does not, but the above link does let you show the percentages

bharat_forum

Is it a mod? Where can I get it?

Arantor

Did you actually read what was written?

If you just use the standard SMF feature, it doesn't show percentages - and it doesn't show anything for anyone who doesn't have warnings already (assuming you ACTUALLY changed the setting in the first place, which I somewhat doubt)...

If you actually read the link above, you'd understand that if you want percentages you have to actually edit the template yourself - there's no mod for it.

bharat_forum

I tried to edit the templet but it gave me error so something is wrong there. Also I would like to know how can I remove warning from the profile or it remain there all the time?

Angelina Belle

bharat_forum,

Were you able to use these warning features?
I can understand you may have run into problems editing the template to show the warnings.

A good place to get help with SMF coding is
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=60.0
You can frequently find users willing to help those new to writing php and html (which is what you are doing when you change the template).

Since this is template-related, you might also try
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=34.0
Though those discussions often go more to how to achieve "skinning" effects.

Please let me know if it is OK to mark this topic solved.

Thanks

bharat_forum

I didn't really try again as I got some errors. Will see the link you posted. One more question, is there a way to remove warning from member profile?

Dav999

If you want to make their warning level lower, just issue a new warning which sets their level lower.

Arantor

There is no way to remove a warning, you can only issue a negative warning to remove some of the warning %.

bharat_forum

You mean that if someone has a warning it will always shown on profile? There is no way to hide it?

Arantor

bharat_forum

That's not nice, I just tried it on some member which doesn't need a warning and I can't even remove it....

Kindred

you can.  Issue a NEW warning at 0% and it will remove the previous one

Arantor

It will remove the % of warning but the warning will still remain on the account until the log is cleared in the future (typically 6 months)
