I'm working on Profile Fields ... I wonder how can I make my field displays all the groups in which the user is ... That means groups that are based on the posts, and other groups ...
I want something like this, to start ....

almost any answer is going to point you to a mod....   why do you not want to use a mod?
A mod installs and uninstalls automatically and has a record of the changes made...

manual code edits don't have any of those benefits....
