Apache 2.4 + nginx

I am currently running Apache 2.2 with nginx as a reverse proxy to handle static content (following this tutorial). At some point I would like to upgrade to Apache 2.4 due to increased performance and the fact that 2.2 will eventually reach EOL status. However, I have not found any tutorials for setting this up with Apache 2.4.

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about doing this?
