I am wanting to set up a skin for my site but I have never used simple machines before, I was wondering if anyone could help me with learning how to do that as well as adding mods into my forum. I am currently being hosted by createaforum, and most of the people who I have seen use that host has skinning through simple machines.

If you are hosted by CreateAForum, you will not be able to install any mods or themes other than the choices they give you.

I know a couple of sites that use them and have used simple machine to set up.

That site is not, as far as I can tell, actually hosted by CreateAForum, only using an add-on published by them (and is done so for promotion purposes). CreateAForum is a specially modified version of SMF whose functions are controlled by CreateAForum itself.

that makes sense now that you put it that way, so basically I need to find someone to host my forum, I already have a domain name.
