Up-to-date version of Topic Starter?

I'd like to have it show either the choice of text or an image (that would be, say, a representative icon) underneath the username of the topic starter on each of their posts within their topic, however, the old mod is out of date and I cannot seem to parse it for the current version. Is there some built-in functionality that would cater to this particular function, if not, how might I code this in myself? Thanks!
