Why the .0 after topics?

I've seen that SMF uses .0 after boards and topics in the url, like this:

index.php?topic=13121.0
and with posting
index.php?action=post;board=147.0
same for boards.

For a conversion problem, wich I need to fix fast before I get too many crawler errors, I need to know if this .0 is needed or obligated.
If not, I could easily fix some url problems which I'm having now (old urls not converted).

Next to that I just wonder why the .0 is there anyway, because until now I did not see any .1 or .2 or something like that.:)

Hi Black Tiger,

The .# is used to indicate what page of the topic has to be gathered. It tells SMF what message the page starts with.
.20 tells it to gather the next messages after message 20 in the topic. .40 idem dito, after message 40.

Thank you, but can I just leave out the .0 when fixing unconverted links?
