Hi,

I recently upgrade to 2.0.7 and all of sudden site stopped loading even after key-in the correct url. It just shows up a blank page always.

Since I had the previous backup of my home directory I restored back which helped the site to work again but now all of sudden the same issue is coming up :(

What should I do to resolve the issue? The last activity which I did after restoration is adding an article in with SMFArticles plugin - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1354.

Any help asap is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Upload repair_settings.php and make sure the paths are correct.

melwynjensen

Thanks for the reply.

Checked with repair_settings.php and the URL looks fine.

Thanks for the reply lurkalot.

I tried all those points mentioned from the link.

-> Setting mem limit in php.ini

-> Changing the mem value in Admin.php and Class-Package.php files

-> Mem limit for the server shows 256M -> but still it doesn't work.

I have raised a ticket to my host provider for increasing the memory as well but somehow I feel it's a different issue. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

margarett

WSOD is not supposed to happen in BoardIndex (eg, when you open your forum)

Don't ask for more than 256M, it would hardly be accepted.

Check your PHP error logs, this will tell you what happens ;)

Thanks maragarett for your reply!

Server logs shows timeout error as below,

==

Any idea what should be done to resolve this? or is this the issue for the problem in first place?  ???

margarett

That might be something related to Pretty URLs. Anyway, action Post shouldn't be called in board index...

Also, that date is not today, it was yesterday. Are those server logs from cPanel? If so, ask your host for PHP logs.

If am not wrong. PHP error logs are the one which is under the home folder named as "error_log" right?

That log as entries which are old and nothing with today's date as well :(

margarett

Yes, it should be.

If there are no entries, then a white page is really strange. Maybe you can ask your host for some help? Other than that, I can only think about adding some debug info to index.php but that's a mouse-and-cat game...

Host pointed out the timeout issue again and gave the below explanation,

QuoteThis error is encountered whenever the FCGI timeout parameter 'IPCCommTimeout' is exhausted for an Apache process. 'IPCCommTimeout' defines the maximum period of time the module will wait while trying to read from or write to a FastCGI application. This timeout value is set to 300 seconds. These parameters are globally set-up and cannot be changed. I request you to optimize your website pages for it.

There is nothing changed to do optimization in the forum. It was just the same a day before and now all of sudden WOD :( Trying to setup the same in my local machine to debug. Already site down for 3-4 days now :(

unlimited disk space does not exist... they are an overseller. i would start looking for a non-oversold host and i bet things will work better from the start.

melwynjensen

Hmm but the support who replied said, "we do not oversell resources on our servers."

How you are sure on this? You have already tried bigrock hosting?

Illori

unlimited anything does not exist, even if they say they dont oversell they are. most oversold hosts NEVER will admit to overselling.

melwynjensen

Is there any possibility I can optimize now to make it work?

Irisado

The optimal solution would be to find a better host :).

So far as I know, there aren't any other options you can try that were not covered in the wiki article on the subject, which you have already read.

melwynjensen

Hmm.. Can you guys suggest one? Am just wondering how the other host will be good than the one which I am who are so called to be the "No.1 hosting service in the market"  ???

Illori

melwynjensen

Thanks Illori.

Just was curious about this error in server logs,

[Thu Mar 20 09:22:42 2014] [error] [client 115.114.17.146] Negotiation: discovered file(s) matching request: /home/infomrzb/public_html/index.html (None could be negotiated).

Any light on this?

Illori

looks like someone added index.html to your url and the page was not found.

melwynjensen

Hmm seems like host support did some check with that. Getting this warning message in php error logs,

PHP Warning:  preg_replace_callback() [<a href='function.preg-replace-callback'>function.preg-replace-callback</a>]: Requires argument 2, 'entity_fix__callback', to be a valid callback in /home/infomrzb/public_html/Sources/Load.php(183) : runtime-created function on line 3

Is this something major?

Got the notification from Package Manager stating new 2.0.7 upgrade is out and by then took a complete site backup and went for the upgrade.

Now it's 100% sure the issue is because of the upgrade.. Just downloaded 2.0.6 files and replaced everything except install.php and Settings.php and there we go site is back to normal :) -> www.infomaniac.co.in

Learnt quite a huge lesson now of not to be too quick for the upgrades!!!!

Illori

if you upgraded the first 1-2 days the update was out, there was a bug found. if you upgrade now you should be just fine.

melwynjensen

Hmm but looks like I will wait for some more time..

Thanks Illori and everyone for your time and help :)
