I'm completely bamboozled, mate. The thing acting as though a database table is a file is just doing my head in.

Sorry an' all that... :(

I'm surprised your host can't attempt a repair, themselves, though.

Illori

it has to be stored as a file on the server... everything is a file of some sort [or a program etc].

kat

Oh, true enough. But, with this, you'd expect it to tell you that the table doesn't exist, rather than a file doesn't.

If you look in phpmyadmin, does that table exist?

Illori

that is the issue the file that stores the data has been corrupted or has some issue, so repairing the table will do nothing to fix it when the data basically does not exist. a backup has to be restored in one way or another.

FYI:

I was able to repair the database tables. The table name had .TMM for the extension where it should have been MYI. After changing this and repairing the table it appears to be clean. Please let us know if this doesn't look good and we will restore the backup you have. Also, I dumped the database into /temp as a backup of the database in its present state.

That's my firm opinion.... but what do I know?!

kat

I guess the question, now, has to be "How the fook did that happen?".
