Loading calendar events and linked posts

Does anyybody have a receipe or widget for uploading calendar events and linked posts in bulk?

I've got about 5000 events to load, each having a first post for a new event topic within a target board.

There's a gCalSync mod for SMF 1.1.x but that's about all I could find as far as mods go, although I guess an importer can be done. What format are your events in?

My starting point in an excel spreadsheet. I have columns for date, calendar entry, topic name and initial post

Can you attach first few rows as csv or something? And who will it be posted as, also what will be the board?

The data will be loaded by somebody called "Events Secretary" and the Board will be "Events".
