SMF 2.0.8 "database support in PHP"

Hello,

  I have searched for quite some time in attempt to resolve this issue with no avail. I'm setting up a home webserver using Nginx on Ubuntu Server 14.04.
  So far the process seems pretty straight forward and easy, however when attempting to install SMF I receive

Critical Error!
The installer was unable to detect any database support in PHP. Please ask your host to ensure that PHP was compiled with the desired database, or that the proper extension is being loaded.

There is really nothing there mentioning MySQL, are you sure it was installed together with Nginx?

I did have it installed, I'm not sure what happened but I managed to get it working. I removed and re-added the database with a few tweaks and it was finally able to install correctly.
