Just waiting on approval... :( Otherwise I would be going full force with for game packs and everything... but need to wait I guess.

Been there.  I will check back in April.   :'(

I still do not understand where competent, veteran mod authors should have issues with this process.
To assume is to hope that those who came before had the presence of mind and capacity to implement the dreams of those who would come after.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. It seems you have chosen which, and now I must do the same.

Hi vb, Sounds great  to have a new version up to date and supported. :)  Will there be any option to embed games from outside sources a bit like Mochi used to do?

Maybe not sure will see how this goes. Looks like I am going to rewrite most of it which wasn't my original goal. Maybe should have started from scratch.

Just wondering, how long does it take to get approval for a mod? Is it dependent on mod size etc.?

And @ vbgamer ... you have no idea how much I've wanted a revamped, working without errors version of this! :D

How will this work are far as installation? Will I uninstall the old one and install this one? And what about all the games I have (currently a little over 600)? Will I have to reupload and install them as well? Not that I would mind, it will be worth it! :D

it takes as long as it will take, there are other mods in the queue. mods that are larger in size do tend to take longer to review.

I figured that much.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks. :D

There are exceptions and one of the historical traits is that veterans mod authors generally get held to a higher standard because they are seen as points of reference in the community. Setting an example, you might say. It's certainly incentive to not merely do it right, but do it well and be setting an example for a community of future mod authors.

You'd think so. Others disagree with this mentality.
To assume is to hope that those who came before had the presence of mind and capacity to implement the dreams of those who would come after.

...

My experience was at least 4 months for a small 70k zip compressed mod.  E-Arcade is humongous so, it may take up to a year?  :P

Usually, just usually, the approval length is inversely proportional to the mod author's coding skill ;)
Look at them. They're just asking for it. Maybe the human race deserves to be wiped out.

Fun fact, SimpleDesk 1.0 took all of 3 days to get approval. Even though it was thousands of lines of code.
To assume is to hope that those who came before had the presence of mind and capacity to implement the dreams of those who would come after.

My "skill" might not be the best but I am able to get things done even when they are not perfect and that's what makes me successful.

I guess if you want to make money, being first to market with something that kinda works might work for you. Not all of us have the same definition of success.

I can myself agree with both of you, and I think know both of you a little bit!

@Arantar, likes things to be done on a next to perfect if not perfect level and this a real important issue with the SMF and the things he does and does well, It's kinda like a integrity and  reputation as a fine artist at work. more the finished product than the funds raised by his work. A very good thing !

@Vgamer  as far back as can remember is in this to produce working product with support for monetary reason as well contributions for free. and maintain integrity in his way! However if you are in it to make some money, it's a cut throat world out there! And things change so fast in the needs for stuff and they want it now!

@ the industry world, Not mentioning anything related to SMF, the out side market software place:

I my self as well many I know, have purchased products from many commercial software companies with the promises of support and updates, and have never got much support if any , in fact when they do come with an update they call a new version, make you pay upgrade fee just to finds it's the bug fixes that should have been done in the past version.

They even do the same with the Automotive stuff even  things related by the FEDS. " Recall' not saying, its the best way, but it is the way!

Back To the topic:

So as I see it they both correct in their individual positions that each are in, One understanding to do it right the first time and the Other understanding to get it done and back up what you do, to stay in the market place.

I'm still keeping mind that SMF is free, and it needs to be a solid base for all things to depend on and work with.

Hope I'm not misunderstood here! just how see things, you both correct in the way you do you work!

regards,
Maxx
