Hey all,

I have the same issue. I installed the repair_settings.php. Used restore default settings and then i get the error about the template. Funny thing is, it seems to be only when i  have logged in. If i chagne the theme it changes, but still has the same error msg.........Please help me i am lost!!! Not sure if it matters or not. But i have 2 in the list......

Steve

It's usually best to start a new thread if the existing one by someone else doesn't help you and the thread is marked solved, as this one is.

The wizards tend to skip over the solved ones since there are so many open ones to help out on. :)

Topic split.

What is "restore default settings"? A link to your forum would help.

If that's your forum, have you thought about updating it?

Bug-fixes and all that...

Not really..........unfortunately the guy that use to control it isn't around any more and i am left trying to sort it..........same as the actual server. I had to learn how to set it up from scratch. I did have some help so was not too bad.............

Thanks for the tip Steve. I just didnt want to start another one cause there was one already there..........thanks matey. Ill try remember for next time...........

kat

Updating's pretty easy. :)

If you go to Package Manager, you'll get notifications, with a "Click here to update" wotsit.

So, all you need to do, is... er... click there, to update. :)

Probably best to backup, first, though, coz you never know... ;)

Ok sweet =]

this is what i see.

Steve

You can go here and download the update packages:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/

IMPORTANT! Do each one in order. Update to 2.0.5, then 2.0.6 etc. so you will need to download the top five in that list.

kat

Sorry... I may have given you a bum steer, there.

On the main Admin page, there's a box, saying "Live from Simple Machines".

Look there. (Been a while since I did this) :P

Kindred

nope k@... you were actually right.

There should be text informing you that there is a patch ready AND a link to grab and install the next version patch in BOTH the main admin section AND the package manager section.

Use the maintenance routine to fetch files from sm.org (don't remember the exact wording)
Or do as Steve said ;)

Thanks all for the help. Is there a help guide to installing upgrades?

Sariи

Excellent. All updates completed. Still showing "The default theme's directory is wrong, please correct it by clicking this text." at the top of the forum page.........

Illori

Sariи

EDIT: To note, seems to be only when i am logged in, no one else......To further note, even when i change the theme, it changes and still shows me that message

I clicked it and this is what happend;

To fix it i changed this & removed /home/USERNAME;

I did notice this;

Bruce the Shark

I'm not seeing it and i am sure pretty much no one else is either.
If your the only one then i wouldn't worry about it.

only admin get shown that message, that is why only the op is seeing it. it should still get fixed.
Bruce, dont tell someone that they should ignore an error and move on as you think their issue is getting "old"

op, did you go to the page as i suggested and click that button?

Sariи

Thanks again for all the help!

If you look at the theme's paths, do you see something like this?

Theme directory (templates): /home/website/public_html/Themes/default
URL to above directory: http://website.com/Themes/default

One's an actual URL, whereas the other's that weird "/home" thing.

Bruce the Shark

Its obviously hes having some issues here.
Just wondering have any of you senior members considered in assisting him out off line.
I mean he is trying his best. He might be hinting on something.

Hey bro its sort of frowned upon here to bump up your post.
Just sit there and relax until someone has more time to answer your question.

Really
I see ok then i will bump my post up since no one has yet to my question

Steve

Bruce, you may already know this but normal etiquette for support boards is to not bump one's post looking for a quicker answer for at least 24 hours. Especially on a volunteer support board. :)

Being polite i never bothered asking
But my issue was never resolved so i left it as is

What question? About helping him off line? If so, the OP addressed that. Or is it something else? :)

I just visited your site and, as a guest, everything seems in order.

If you can PM me an admin login I can try to check what's happening. As it stands I have really no idea...

margarett

So I finally checked this.

It happens that you *don't* have a default theme... :o

That is prone to ALL KINDS of issues...
What happened is that you renamed the default theme (id = 1) and its folder also. So SMF doesn't find that folder and continuously warn you abut that...

The only thing you can do is prevent SMF from warning you because at this point you will not change your theme's structure, so...

Sariи

That sounds bad..........everything works perfectly......except the message i get......how do i disable that message then????

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at it..............OGB & I thank you!

margarett

The message is generated in load.php, in this little piece of code
if (!empty($context['user']['is_admin']) && !isset($_GET['th']))
{
loadLanguage('Errors');
echo '
<div class="alert errorbox">
<a href="', $scripturl . '?action=admin;area=theme;sa=settings;th=1;' . $context['session_var'] . '=' . $context['session_id'], '" class="alert">', $txt['theme_dir_wrong'], '</a>
</div>';
}

Backup your file (just in case ;) ) and delete this code.

Sariи

The warning is gone!!!!

Thank you all for the help. I searched for that file but didnt come up. Went into forums/source and found it straight away.
