Hi
Please help...this is the errors I get when I click intall

Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

I was asked to specify all errors...I copied and paste my error/success as well

Do I edit the version to 2.0.8 even if my version is 2.0.9 before I update?

margarett

Wait, wait... Help me out here a little bit, please ;)

Right now (before the update) your SMF version is 2.0.9, right?
And which version does index.english.php has in the header?
Before 2.0.9, which version were you running? 2.0.8 and you updated it to 2.0.9 with the patch (as you are doing now)?

Prayerflowers

Yes...I'm apologize...
I went to the link posted above...

current version 2.0.9

margarett

Thank you. But please help me out a little bit as your issue seems different to what I encountered... (although the fix is the same :P )
Can you please answer the remaining questions?

bear with me Margaret...

that page says the version is 2.0.7 but my current version is 2.0.9 so I'm confused...
// Version: 2.0.7; index

margarett

Ah ok, all is good. It's the same problem I encountered ;)

The topic I linked you to explains this "versions" stuff. The file version is not necessarily the software version.
Anyway, you can proceed to update your forum to 2.0.10 :)

Option a:
* Before installing the patch, edit index.english.php and set the version to 2.0.8 (you probably have it at 2.0.7). Then install the patch cleanly
Option b:
* Install the patch ignoring the error, then edit index.english.php and set the version to 2.0.10
;)

ok I will go try that...

will the other errors correct themselves too...? my theme was Endar...

Kindred

not every file is updated with every release...   so file version != release version unless the file was specifically changed in that release.

so a 2.0.7 file in a 2.0.9 release is fine - if the file has not recieved an update since 2.0.7
Heck, some of your files will still be 2.0

Now...   did you INSTALL your forum using 2.0.7, originally, or did you patch a previous release up to that?

edit, ninja'd ---   but still have the last question, so I'm going to post anyway

I think I'm answering you correctly...I have been just doing the patches that are sent to me on my forum for the last 5 or 6 years...can't remember..

When they come like this one today I just click and install update...this is the first time I have encountered a problem.  I am trying to remember how to edit the index.english.php   You are probably scratching you head right now...but it been awhile since I messed with the code...last time was years ago when I added another theme...and had some help with that.

Prayerflowers

Did I answer incorrectly?

I will do the install...my question is how do I correct the errors after the install...again I apologize

Your only relevant error was in index.template.php

Your other errors are related to "Install in Other Themes" and this patch ONLY addresses default theme. So do not click any other theme to install into ;)

Okay...thank you for responding :)

Do I have to ftp my changes...or can I make them from the Admin panel?

I think that's where I am confused...my husband originally set this up and ftp it so he would make the corrections on the server...somehow I thought there was a way to do modifications from the Admin panel as well...but I can't find it this morning

Prayerflowers

Yay...I fixed it...finally!!!

I found where I had to change it to 2.0.8 and then did the install and it worked find...thank you for your patience with me!
