Will long membergroups names affect performance?

I plan to use longer membergroup name and fear for performance issue. Will long membergroup names affect performance? For example, 35 characters long membergroup name vs 255 characters long membergroup name.

No it does not represent any significant performance.  Keep in mind that the group name by default has a 80 char limit.
