Trying to install; Installer was unable to detect any database support in PHP.

As the title says, it gives me that error upon installation. I am using XAMPP and have the package with PHP 5.5.30. The SMF version I am trying to use is 2.0.11. I have started both apache and MySQL modules from the XAMPP control panel. I have searched around but have not found a solution to my problem.

are you sure you are php 5.5.30 and not php 7.*? you have mysqli support but not mysql, SMF 2.0 does not yet support mysqli by default.

Thanks for the reply.

I am sure I have PHP 5.5.30, It says so in PHP info(). I have also just figured out my problem. The MySQL extension in php.ini was commented out by default for some odd reason.

navigate to your xampp install folder/php/php.ini
Go to around line 872 and remove the semi colons from "extension=php_mysql.dll"
